This is it, the day I’ve been waiting for since the end of July…
The first day of school!

Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids, but too much time together and they are at each other’s throats.
But today I am free from the arguing for at least six hours a day.
Stella is thrilled to be going back. She helped me sort out the mountain of school supplies and put them in the appropriate backpack.
Teddy can’t wait to see his friends and see which of his lady friends are in his class.
Maizie doesn’t want anything to do with going. She’s never been a fan.
Stella planned her outfit, then changed her mind. Decided on something else, then went back to her original plan. This year has a lot of animals involved.
Teddy didn’t get a say. I chose his outfit. He wanted to wear his new sneakers (size men’s 10 ½) but Stella convinced him that even if he had gym it didn’t matter because it was the first day.
Maizie had trouble deciding. Was she going to wear the dress she got? Not if she couldn’t wear a specific pair of sneakers. She opted for a pair of shorts and a new shirt.
This morning I ironed everyone’s clothes so they didn’t look like skeevortizes. Teddy was a bit shocked that he ended up looking so dapper (like I would steer him wrong).
They put their pre-packed lunches into their backpacks (I was kind enough to myself to do it last night) and once teeth were brushed, we were ready to walk the two blocks to school.
Teddy and Stella were happy as clams.
Maizie, for someone that wasn’t thrilled about going, she walked awfully fast to get there.
Soon I will find out if they had a great day and hopefully a great year.
I love the idea of taking first day and last day pictures of the kids. My daughter is off to college now, and I wish I’d done this with her.
I’ve been enjoying all the back-to-school photos. As a former high school principal, I miss all the first day of school excitement. All of my kids are grown now, but I remember those days well.
I wish I had thought to make first and last day of school pictures with my kids. I’m a little late to the party, but I guess I could always start.

I wish I had done the 1st day of school pictures! I did SOMETHING but not like this. My son was excited to start again, and now he is ready to be done!

This is such a fun time of year. They look so happy to be going back.
You know, every year before I have been READY for the kids to go back to school. But this year, not so much! We had a very hectic Summer so it was like I wanted more time to relax.
Your kids look great, though. Enjoy the silence! I have
School will be starting here on Tuesday. No more sleeping in for my daughter. Hopefully everyone had a great first day back at school.

The first day of school always seemed to come so fast…and take so long to get here, at the same time! Love the outfits that they are wearing.
We were all so excited for the first day of school. I got no fighting children for a couple hours and they got all their friends and learning back!

I love the fifth grade imagineer sign. Aren’t we all? 🙂 You guys are too adorable. Happy first day of school.
Oh, they all look adorable! And I totally get it. I love my kids more than the world, but I love it when school starts again and I can get back to some semblance of a routine.

I hope they had a great day! I know what you mean about the arguing – I have three boys who don’t start school for another week so they’re still arguing!
Aww, so cute. I hope they had a wonderful day! And I hope they have a wonderful year, too!

They all have very different opinions on heading to school. I hope they had a good day of class!
So interesting seeing when people start school around the country. Lucky for us our kids were enthusiastic. Been going for 3 weeks now and enjoying it. Good luck!
My kids started school almost a month ago. They went with smiles on their faces and excited to start the new year.

Great pictures to remember their special day! My kids started a couple weeks ago and they are already busy with homework.
I’ve never taken first day pictures with the papers and everything. I used to take one of my son, but he stopped letting me take them in 5th grade!

I love back to school time. I also do the pictures even though the older one likes to argue with me over them.
Yay! Happy First day of school. I love those photos, looking super happy!
This was one of the cutest videos I have seen. It looked like mom was the most excited about them going back to school. Thanks for sharing this awesome video I really really hope they have a fantastic time back at school.
They look great for their first day of school. I love the outfits. My kids are excited to get back to their friends.
I am looking forward to school starting here next week. The kids are excited to see who is in their classes. I can not believe how fast the summer flew by.
Lol, I was ready in June, just kidding lol. We have 5 and finally this year our youngest will be starting this week. It is going to be so different but I’m going to love it. =)
Those are all great BTS photos of your kids and what a great idea to print out a sign so you (and they) will always remember what grade/year it was. Wish I’d thought of that when own 4 kids were little.
It’s nice that you’re taking pictures as a keepsake. They will look back and see these pictures and remember how the day went. I think it’s great that you’re very supportive of what they want individually.

This is something I can do with the grandchildren since I was not able to do this with my kids when they were young. It would be great to see how their dreams would change with every passing year. I wanted to be an astronaut when I started 2nd grade. LOL.
Aww! I love these stories! I put my oldest on the bus for the first full day of kindergarten this past week. He blew me a kiss and waved as the bus drove away. I walked home sobbing. Such a range of emotions. Excitement, happiness for less kid arguing during the day, sadness as he is my sidekick. We all survived the first day, but sheesh it was hard for Mom!
One of my nieces likes going to school. The other, not so much.
