Thankful Thursday

It seems like it’s been a while since I’ve been thankful. So I’m back and I have a few things to be thankful for this week.
I am thankful for school being back in session.  I love my kids, but man three of them all day every day does a lot to my nerves. The messes, selective muteness and deafness (may need to have them tested for those “issues”); refusing to eat regular meals, going to bed at all hours…I’m done. Wednesday the 2nd couldn’t come fast enough. Oh, it’s 7:30pm? YOU’RE OUTTA HERE!!!
I am thankful for my new knee length winter coat I got from my mom for Christmas. Walking to school in 14 degree weather has never been so pleasant. Now when I sit at the hockey rink maybe my hemorrhoids won’t flare up from the freezing cold metal bleachers. Can we start a collection for squishy covers or something? I bet there would be a lot of hockey moms tossing in a fist full of cash.
I am thankful that all three of the kids now have their own rooms and our room has been moved downstairs. Maizie is beyond thrilled to have her own room. Teddy and Stella are also glad, until bedtime then those two turn on the waterworks. “I miss Teddy”, “I miss Stella”, and then there’s “Get out of my room”. I’m glad that my room is now next to the bathroom. I no longer have to walk all the way down the hall, down the stairs, through the kitchen and into the bathroom and then back again.
Once again I am thankful for heated seats and a car starter. The temperatures this week have been downright torturous. I know its New England, but COME ON!!! Does it have to be that cold on the days I have to walk Maizie to school in the morning; it’s just a downright rude wake up. The days I’m lucky and can drive the car starter is FABU and it gets toasty warm since the time lapse between starting the car and actually getting in it is pretty long (let’s just say she’s not a gazelle in the morning).
I am thankful for all the cooking magazines that get delivered to my house (thanks Tami). I take my time and peruse through them; dreaming of the day I have enough peace to make them. Then I snap back to reality and go back through them and decide what I could really make (what we would really eat) and how much effort goes into the dish (let’s face it, I don’t get a large window of opportunity before my sous chefs revolt).
