He’s coming, it’s almost time.
Every year he shows up on Thanksgiving. We wake up and he’s next to the Wampa.

Our Elf on the Shelf, Elfel (my oldest named him).
Then the countless nights of hoping he’s going to be somewhere else in the morning.

I don’t want my kids to be disappointed if Elfel doesn’t get to “fly home at night”, especially if someone was awake upstairs, causing a ruckus.
The pressure he has of finding a new place to hang out can be intense.

He wants to be creative, but he doesn’t want to be touched (he is very tempting) and he wants to be out of reach from Alabama.
He also wants to be somewhere he can see everything so he can report it all back to Santa.

We have asked him not to make a mess and he has listened.
The kids are getting older, so maybe he can get a bit more daring with his spots.
We shall see.
Does the Elf on the Shelf visit you? Where does your elf hang out?
Ours comes December 1st and honestly I am fresh out of ideas. I am dreading the day he comes back this year.
My daughter loves Elf on the Shelf and she is 17. It’s crazy that even though kids KNOW he’s not real, they totally want to play along.
Haha that’s pretty funny. We’ve never done Elf on the Shelf but this makes me want to start. My kids would get a big kick out of it I’m sure.
Elf on the Shelf is so cute! I love all the fun situations that little guy gets himself into.
We have an Elf- Twinkle. My kids adore him but I’m starting to run out of ideas! Maybe I need to get a bit more simple…
The elf on a shelf creeps me out, bad! I don’t know why, but he is creepy to me. I almost bought one but glad I didn’t. I do love seeing all the places these elves hide for other people though! Too fun.
My son has been asking when our Max is coming back. He can’t wait!
We never had one but my kids told me all about the one at their friend’s house and so I think one may visit our house to this year!
We do not have an elf yet but I am thinking about getting one for the girls. They are still pretty young and I am not sure if they would enjoy it yet.
No, we do not have one. My youngest is 6 now and I think that maybe we will get one this year. I always marvel at some of the things people do with their elves.
Those Elves are so cute and fun. Your Elf on a Shelf definitely gets around and can be seen in lots of places, including the ones that you least suspect.
Our elf visits! Since my kids are all under 5 its still a thrill for all of them to see where the elf will be in the morning. Its almost time for Ruby to make her appearance! Yikes!
The elf that visits my grandkids arrives on Dec. 1st and when the kids wake up, the elf has cooked a huge breakfast. 🙂 I’m so glad I found the Elf for my grandkids a few years ago. The little ones are always so excited to look for him each morning.
The Christmas Elf is so much fun and people really do get creative with him. We don’t have one but I think it is fun.
We did the Elf on the Shelf last year for the first time and the kids loved it so much. So we will definitely be doing it again this year. The kids have asked about it already!
He never did Elf on the Shelf when I was young but now that I’ve older, I have an Elf on the Shelf Funko Pop who shows up from time to time! We named him Eli <3
We never did Elf on the shelf in my home as a kid but maybe when I have my own kids I could do that.
Ha ha! We have the same problem! Curious hands want to touch “Jack”, the name of our elf and we always have a hard time figuring out where to put him. I think this year we’ll write down all the places we want to put him that way we aren’t as stressed out. I’ve been known to forget a time or two and my kids totally called me out on it and I had to come up with a good reason as to why he didn’t move. 😉
I have never gotten around to doing this with my kids- my poor girls!! 😉 Maybe I’ll let this be something the older ones do for the younger ones each year.
Great pictures!!
The Elf on a Shelf means the holidays are coming!! It seems to have crept up on me this year!
I have to say I’m glad we never did this when my son was small. I would probably have forgotten to move him around and create different things for the elf to do….or would have been caught in the process.
These are such cute ideas and I can’t get the smile off my face. I so have to share these with my sisters. The one with him hanging with the sunglasses on is to cute. Thanks so much for sharing Elf on the Shelf.
I am SO excited because my little one is almost old enough to start doing elf on the shelf. I am so excited to see her face every morning!
Looks like the elf has lots of fun at your house! It must be fun finding and creating new places for him to hide!
Ours used to come December 1st and honestly I am so sad that my son does not believe in it anymore!
I have an Elf on the Shelf. I haven’t decided if he is going to make his appearance or not. Hmmm.
We had an Elf on the Shelf last year. My husband is definitely in charge – it is a lot of work!
We don’t have an elf on the shelf but this looks like a fun tradition.
